Thoughts from the Gong Meditations at Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit Friday, Oct 25th 2013

This was Sacred Wave Gong’s second Wellness Retreat at Gilda’s Club, an organization that supports people going through the medical treatment for all forms of cancer as well as their friends and families.
We were honored that the majority members really wanted to experience the relaxation of the three 35 minute Gong Meditation experiences. Some even skipped having their nails done to sneak in and get a spot.
We’ve seen some of these nice folks for years at Spa Days, Reiki Classes and now Gong Meditations.
The people had similar yet unique experiences. One woman said ” I redecorated my whole house. I went through every room adding color and furniture…” Another confirmed the claim that it makes meditation easy by saying “When I meditate I have trouble keeping my mind clear but I know I was meditating during Gong playing because the time went by so fast.”
A man who I’ve seen for sometime at Gilda’s and I feel is very strong said afterward, “I had no idea you were into that. It’s far out isn’t it.” To which I replied, “Yes it is. I love all kinds of sound therapies.”
We will return to Gilda’s Club to perform our first concert style Gong Meditation so that the maximum number of people might enjoy this stress relieving experience for a whole hour with a meal afterward.
It is a gift to have these living instruments to share with people who are in the process of a profound challenge in their lives.
We Love facilitating all of our events. When we perform for a group or person going through an obviously difficult challenge who’s burden is lightened, we are again reminded of how blessed our lives are and how blessed we are to have come through some difficult challenges of our own.
We are thankful that we were lead to the Gong by the Drum which fascinatingly links the ways of Native American Shamanism to Tantra in the orb of percussion sound healing techniques.
