About Seasons Hospice Foundation, A note from Teri Schmitchen, CVA
Seasons Hospice Foundation is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit corporation. Founded in 2011, our mission is to bring comfort and support to hospice patients and their families through programs and initiatives that are not covered under private insurance or Medicare. Our funds support patient wish fulfillment, special programs, community education to increase awareness about the benefits of hospice, and applied research to improve the quality of hospice care. Extending beyond the borders of traditional healthcare, we treat the whole person and their loved ones in ways that touch the human spirit—adding days to life and life to days.

Camp Kangaroo Program
Loss and grief have a far reaching impact on children and families. Research has shown that 1 in 9 Americans experience the death of a parent before they turn 20 while 1 in 7 lose either a parent or a sibling. The loss of a loved one is difficult for a child. Many children struggle at school in the aftermath of a loved one’s death and often need more support. Some children act out in unproductive and potentially dangerous ways. Seasons Hospice Foundation partners with Seasons Hospice & Palliative Care to provide Camp Kangaroo to the Southeast Michigan community. Camp Kangaroo is a bereavement camp experience provided free of charge for children in the community who have suffered the death of a loved one. Our Camp Kangaroo program is designed to help children feel less alone in their grief, to provide them with a supportive environment to express their emotions, and to help them learn effective coping strategies. Grief and loss affects the whole family system. We provide an Adult Group for parents and guardians to teach them about common grief reactions in children and offer ways for them to support their children at home. This also allows the adults to process their own grief in a supportive environment. Positive coping strategies for the family are reinforced. In this way, we can support the family in their journey through grief. Our next camp in Michigan will be taking place in January 2016. For more information about our camp program, contact Anne Hansen at (800) 370-8592. To register a grieving child for our camp program, click here

☀️25% of the proceeds from our Gong Immersions go to support local charities.☀️

The past three years with all of you have certainly been some of the most powerful and dramatic years in my 25 year practice of bodywork, sound therapies and personal healing as well as Carol Damoth’s 25+ years as a psychologist, cranial sacral therapy and healing touch partitioner.

Looking back if Carol and I had not been generously invited to experience a Gong Yoga session at the Yoga By Design Foundation fundraiser in 2011 we may have never experienced the powerful sound healing benefits of the Sacred Gong. We were there donating our time and with the sound healing work of drums. We would have gone home.

We are reminded often that the word Gong in the United States is expressly connected to The Gong Show. Where people were Gonged of the show with a horrible noise because one or more of the judges didn’t like their performance. People even call us the Gong Show. (We think it’s cute and funny)

All of this is simply more reason to give you and your friends the opportunity to have a free session on us.

InJoy
Christopher

Raising Money For the Ruth Ellis Center though April 18th

Hello everyone,
This Moon we are raising money for the Ruth Ellis Center in Highland Parkm though April 18th, 2015

25% of the proceeds from our Gong Immersions at our studio are going to support the Good Work of Ruth Ellis House.
⭐️This includes all regular scheduled weekly events, private gong sessions for individuals and groups, as well as Gift Certificate Sales. It also includes any of our larger group events in Bloomfield Hills.

About Ruth Ellis Center
The Ruth Ellis Center, incorporated in 1999, is a youth social services agency that serves the needs of runaway, homeless and at-risk youth. We are one of the nation’s leading experts on vulnerable youth who are experiencing residential instability. The mission of the Center is to “provide short and long-term residential safe space and support services for runaway, homeless, and at-risk lesbian, gay, bi-attractional, transgender, and questioning youth.” The REC is the only organization in the country that has a Residential program for LGBTQ youth in the foster care and juvenile justice system, and is mission specific to LGBTQ youth experiencing homelessness. While the Center emphasizes serving LGBTQ youth who are often ostracized, shamed, and denied services by other agencies, no youth, regardless of gender identity and/or sexual orientation is turned away or denied services. Furthermore, all youth who seek our assistance receive the highest level of services based on trauma informed care, late adolescent development theory, and best practices for serving homeless youth.

The Ruth Ellis Center operates three programs:

Ruth’s House – our residential housing program for youth ages 12-17 who are in the foster care or juvenile justice system.
Second Stories Drop-In Center providing basic services and safe space for youth and young adults ages 14 to 24.
Second Stories Outpatient Mental Health Services
The administrative offices and Drop-in Center are located at 77 Victor St. in Highland Park. The Center, founded in 1999, is a 501 ( c ) 3 nonprofit organization and receives funding from individuals, foundations, corporations, community groups, faith-based organizations and the government.
